In this new show of paintings and drawings, Meijer has developed the theme of her last exhibition.
Meijer continues to draw on her life studies of native birds that live around her bushland studio in the Blue Mountains. Over the years, the birds and Meijer have developed a relationship of mutual trust, sharing physical and spiritual space, communicating without words.
Meijer presents her subjects on a larger-than-life scale, giving the birds majesty while creating greater intimacy between the image and the viewer. This new exhibition is a collection of powerful images that bring a unique perspective to the portrayal of Australian birds.
